Jazmin Sasky is a Canadian/Argentinian artist, whose mission is to employ her talent to drive social change. She collaborates with non-profit organizations across North America, and donates resources from the sales of her work in order to support her vision of equality and justice for women and children. These efforts received press coverage through various media channels including the Vancouver Courier, Moku Maui TV Live and Tourism Vancouver. Special recognition as a Platinum Donor was also attributed to the artist for her valuable contributions to the YWCA of Greater Vancouver.

Simultaneously whimsical and poignant, her work depicts women in everyday life scenes and explores themes around friendship, intimacy and sisterhood. The artist possesses a unique recognized style that comes to life in large, colourful paintings reflecting a joyful aesthetic.

Her pieces are included in collections at major hospitals in British Columbia, along with private medical clinics, YWCA housing communities for women, and private homes across Canada, US and Mexico. In addition, she was invited to showcase her original paintings of women in a number of prestigious art spaces including Viewpoints Art Gallery in Maui, and Espacio de Arte Milo Lockett in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina, the artist grew in a vibrant household, surrounded by a rich diversity of culture, music and lively performances. She credits the strong female presence throughout her life, both in her family and broader community, for providing inspiration for her artistic expression.

Her work is rooted in Latin American Folk Art and painting, with an emphasis in textile design and patterns. Jazmin is also a natural storyteller who possesses a keen sensibility to connect and to listen to people. These connections feed her inspiration and allow her canvases to come to life.

The artist is currently working together with other creatives on an international level in Southern Mexico. Jazmin first connected with Oaxaca during a vacation– a trip that changed the course of her work in 2017. On that trip, Jazmin met Oaxaca’s designer, Gaby Vilchis. Their meeting initiated a strong bond and sparkled the desire to collaborate on a unique project. Through her subsequent visits Sasky fell in love with Oaxaca’s history, culture, arts and the remarkable stories of the local women. This special connection prompted “Oaxacan Magic”, a collaborative project among Jazmin and a group of artisans, where the vitality of storytelling is united with rich visuals, unique elements and a deep community connection. In this eye-catching body of work, the ancestral embroidery techniques of the local artisans are combined with original painted canvases by Sasky for truly exceptional results.

The artist alternates her time between Vancouver and Oaxaca, Mexico.
